Ride the trails our grandparents cut across the property: through the hay meadows, along the creek, and up to the ridge above the herd. Our horses are steady and well suited to riders of most experience, and a member of the family leads every ride.
We ride at a walk. The point is the land, not the speed. Most rides stop on the ridge, where you can see the whole farm and, on a clear day, the Catskills.
We match each rider to a horse, fit the saddle and stirrups, and go over the basics together.
The first half hour is flat and open, so you and your horse can settle in.
The trail follows the creek under the trees. On warm days the horses stop to drink.
A short climb to the ridge above the herd. We rest the horses here and look out over the farm before riding back.
No. Our horses are steady and we match each rider to a horse. Riders should be 12 or older and comfortable for two hours in the saddle.
We ride in light rain. If a storm is coming, we telephone the day before and find another date.
Not on the trail ride. Children under 12 are welcome on a herd walk or a corral milking.
Tell us a few dates that suit you and how many are coming. We confirm by email with the address, what to wear, and what to bring.
