Made to measure, in the back room
Our workroom has been at the back of the shop since the 1920s. We make shirts, jackets, trousers, dresses and children’s occasion wear to your measurements, and we take on careful alterations. Choose the cloth at the front, then come back for your fitting.

Measured, cut and sewn for you, in shirting from the front of the shop. Two fittings.

Changes
Alterations fitting
Hems, sleeves, waists and repairs. Bring the garment and the shoes you will wear with it.

If it does not fit, we alter it until it does, at no charge.
Four visits, start to finish

Choose the cloth
Look through the bolts at the front, or bring your own. We send swatches home with you.

First fitting
We take measurements and talk through the cut, the details and when you need it.

Second fitting
You try the garment basted together. We pin, mark and adjust.

Collect
A final try-on, and any last change while you wait.

Fittings are Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 4:30. We confirm every request by email within a day. If you would rather talk it through, call us.

Before your fitting
How long does a made-to-measure garment take?
About three weeks for a shirt, six to eight for a jacket or suit. Tell us your date at the first fitting and we will tell you plainly if we can meet it.
Can I bring my own cloth?
Yes. We will check it first, and wash or press it if it needs it before cutting.
Do I pay at the first fitting?
Half when we cut the cloth, the rest when you collect. Alterations are paid on collection.
What if I need to change my appointment?
Call us. We only ask for a day’s notice so we can offer the time to someone else.
